What is Google for Jobs?
Google recently announced Google for Jobs, a new search product to help job seekers and employers find and advertise their job opportunities.
For job specific queries, such as ‘Programming jobs in NYC’ or ‘Chef Jobs in London’, Google will now show a job listings preview, and each job can expand to display comprehensive details about the listing.
What Does Google for Jobs Mean for Job Board Owners?
This is great news for job board owners for 4 key reasons.
- A few large job boards have dominated Google search results. Now, the most relevant jobs will be shown at the top of the job listing. Once the job seeker clicks “apply,” they will be brought to the job board that provided the listing.
- Your jobs will be more prominent in search results. Jobs will be displayed with a logo, job title, reviews, ratings, and job details.
- You will get more qualified traffic. With Google for Jobs, job seekers can search by various criteria like location or job title, meaning you’re more likely to get applicants who are looking exactly for that job.
- You’ll have an increased chance of your job board being discovered and converting; job seekers will have a new avenue to interact with your postings and click through to your site.
