We interviewed Elizabeth Reyes, Director of Employment Opportunities at Hire Heroes USA discover more about their organization.
Hire Heroes USA’s mission is to empower U.S. military members, veterans and military spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce. We provide free, expert career coaching and job sourcing to hundreds of transitioning U.S. military members, veterans and military spouses each week. As a national nonprofit, we are committed to transparency and accountability, resulting in a Charity Navigator 4-Star rating and GuideStar Platinum level. Our programs are funded exclusively by private grants and public donations.
Hire Heroes USA maintains a singular focus on employment. Quite literally, it’s all we do, and we’ve been doing it with best-in-class results for more than a decade. Since 2007, we’ve helped more than 16,000 veterans and military spouses move into new careers and generated an economic impact of nearly a $200 million.
Over the last few months, we’ve worked closely with Hire Heroes USA to migrate their existing job board to JobBoard.io from another job board platform.
When asked why they were looking to migrate, Hire Heroes said:
We decided to move to a different job board platform because we felt that our previous platform wasn’t job seeker or employer friendly. Jobboard.io provides an extremely user-friendly platform for both audiences. Additionally, Jobboard.io was very responsive. Whenever we have had a question or issues, they respond typically in just a couple hours – if not sooner.
And why JobBoard.io?
Jobboard.io had everything we were looking for in a new job board. They also worked with us to integrate our Customer Relationship Management System with the job board. This integration made a huge difference in our operations. As a nonprofit, it is essential that we are efficient in every aspect of our operations. Since our job board platform communicates with our CRM, we find that we are saving time because we don’t have to manually update our system.
What role does having a job board play in helping accomplish your organizational goals?
The job board provides a great platform for the military members, veterans and military spouses we serve to find career opportunities with our partnered employers. These employers have expressed their belief that hiring veterans and/or military spouses brings value to their organizations. The job board provides a way to bridge the gap in connecting military-friendly employers with job-seeking veterans and military spouses.
Who is the target audience of your job board?
The job board targets both military-friendly employers and job-seeking veterans and military spouses. Many of the employers have designated veteran hiring programs, so our job board provides them another resource to connect with veteran talent and fulfill their veteran hiring goals. All the job seekers on our job board must be transitioning military members, veterans or military spouses. Each job seeker must provide proof of service prior to gaining access to our job board. This ensures that those who are utilizing our job board to apply to jobs – are assisting employers in meeting their veteran hiring goals.
How is JobBoard.io helping you meet the goals of your organization?
Jobboard.io’s platform assists us in recruiting more veteran-friendly employers. Once employers realize the ease of using our job board, their interest is peaked. Additionally, one of the integration features jobboard.io helped us build was our automatic-matching concept. When an employer purchases a job board package of 20 postings or less, the job posting immediately imports into our Salesforce. We have built our Salesforce system to conduct an automatic match based on certain job criteria such as education level, location, and job function. Potential matches are now automatically identified, and then our Veteran Matching Specialist verifies that the job seeker’s preference and experience align with the job posting. We then engage the job seeker about their interest in the job and encourage them to apply, this allows us to take a more proactive approach to our job board.
